Getting holes throgh 4 walls of steel tubing proved to be one of the most difficult tasks in constructing this aircraft. Back when I installed the sticks, the holes in the pilot stick got ovaled, and so the stick was loose. I knew I wanted to go back and fix it, so now I finally did.
I thought about using bushings so I could keep the same bolt, but in the end I decided to up-size the bolt from an AN4-13A to an AN5-13A. This meant enlarging all the holes.
So I carefully enlarged each hole using larger and larger drill bits until I got to the right diameter for a snug fit with the AN5 bolt. It turned out great, and now it's tight.
Unfortunately when I ordered the bolt, I forgot to order a nut! So the one in the photo is an oversized nut, but with the correct threads to hold it there temporarily. I'll replace it when I make another order for parts, and get the right nut.
