Brief Description: Prep fulelage skins
|

|
I was away for a week, visiting college friends and skydiving. Now I'm back.
I haven't tended to leave the blue plastic on parts, since most everything has to get scuffed to get painted, anyway. But I don't want to paint every INTERIOR surface of the skins, as that adds a lot of weight, and they are not subject to the weather like other parts. So I'm using the blue plastic as "masking," so I only paint where the bulkheads attach to the skins. That way there will be primer between the skins and bulkheads, where moisture and corrosion are most likely.
On the exterior, I only need to remove enough blue film to allow for deburring and dimpling. I figure there is a LOT of work do be done in and around the fuselage skins, so they are worth protecting.
I also removed all the plastic from the BOTTOM skin, as I do plan to prime paint all of the piece's interior. Water goes downhill, so the bottom skin is where moisture and crud can sit.
