Brief Description:  Aileron pushrods (pg 1 of 2)

With almost all the parts for the aileron pushrods (I'm still missing the actual bellcrank arm weldments), after 9 months on back order, I am at least able to make the aileron pushrods.

First was cutting them to size. As others have noted, do NOT cut the long ones per the dimension shown on the plans! Instead, on your work bench, lay out the rod-end bearings, the cone shaped bases, and set the centers of the rod-end bearings at the 69-9/32" dimension on the plans. Make sure the rod end bearing threads are laid out so at least 1/2 of the threads will be in the threaded cones. NOW measure between the shoulders of the cone bases, and use THAT dimension to cut the pushrods. The rods will almost undoubtedly be LONGER than what is on the plans.

After cutting, and filing the ends, I prime painted the outsides. I already prime painted the insides some weeks ago.

I marked the ends of the rods so that I had 3 marks of eqaul distance. No need to mark 6 holes, since you can drill right through the pushrod end, to the other side, creating another hole directly across from the first one. That's what's going on in the 3rd photo.
