Brief Description:  LEFT tank rib & baffle (1 of 2)

Installed the reinforcing ring and nutplates in the root rib.

The focused on the fuel level sender modifications in the rear tank baffle. This is a modification required if you are using the aerobatic flop tube fuel pickup. You can't have the fuel level float system in the same bay as the flop tube, so it goes in the next bay. Vans does not provide any instructions for doing this, so I had to look at other web sites to see what worked for others.

The access panel that usually contains the float, is not used on the aerobatic tank, so it gets used as a template for the holes to install the sender in the rear baffle (photo 3). The circle around the holes will be where I later cut out that area as a reinforcing plate on the other side of the baffle. It's not strictly required, but I think the baffle material is so thin, I don't want the weight of the sender moving from deflection of the baffle.
