Any building the wing tanks until just recently, has probably heard of and used the "Checkoway Method" of drilling and installing the Z-brackets. It was a much better method than the way the plans describe. The 3 builder near me, two of whom didn't finish their wings all that long ago, had to use this method.
BUT, it looks like Vans has not predrilled the holes in the brackets to align with the holes in the spar!
This appears to be AWESOME NEWS, but I will remain a little skeptical until I see how the tanks align. If they do, then this is a minor miracle!
5 of the brackets are oriented one way, and the 2 outside brackets are oriented differently. I put them on the plans the way they should go. Than I put the tank baffle on them, and put a cleco in each one, just to be SURE I had them aligned properly.
