Brief Description:  Left stabilizer fiberglass tip - Page 1 of 3

A large portion of the back of the tip needs to be cut off for the elevator counterweight to clear it. I left a little extra to give myself something to work with. Much easier to remove material than to add it back.

The tips are very compressed. See the one on the right in the first photo.

So I made a thin plywood insert (with a little trial and error, and work on the sanding disk) to hold it open so it fits inside the stabilizer skins. If you don't do this, it will be very difficult (impossible?) to get a good alignment with the elevator tip. You need one hand on each tip to make the alignment and adjustments.

This makes it easy to work the tip for alignment, and to allow for drilling.
