These are the homemade tools I used to install the control surface hinges.
The thin ones are made of stiff, thin wire. The thicker ones are 3/16" steel rod from Home Depot, bent in my vice, with a hammer. Note that you need to grind the end into a blunt point so it is easy to feed through the brackets and the rod end bearing. If you leave it flat, you're going to make life really difficult on yourself.
