Brief Description:  Tabs on LEFT elevator

From my last posts, I was very unhappy with the way the "tabs" on the cutout for the trim tab came out. It's really a terrible design because it's difficult to do a good job in such a tight location. So while I was as Airventure I looked at a lot of other RV-7's, and about 1/3 of the left elevators I looked at, cut off the tabs and instead added a "rib" to fill the opening.

Photo #1 is one of those aircraft. This is a much better way to handle this area. So that's what I decided to do.

I cut off the tabs with a Dremel cut-off wheel, then did the rest of the job with a nibbler, files and sandpaper. The second photo is the cleaned up area.

See the next post for the rest of the work for the evening.
