I ordered the 3 new parts I messed up. Vans shipped them out on the same day they received the order!
So I'm going back to do some of the little things I hadn't finished. Tonight it was bending the trailing edge of the right elevator skin, using the 2x8 bending tool recommended by Vans.
I started without the spar in place, and that got things going. But I was afraid I'd over bend it. So I figured if the spar were installed that might keep me from over bending. That seemed to work well for the rest of the bending.
I started with the trailing edge about 3" from the hinge line, then worked in 1/2" increments, moving the edge back closer to the hinge line.
The last picture is shortly before I stopped trying to make it "better." There's a little fall off to the radius of the trailing edge, but not much. It looks straight and consistent.
