Brief Description:  Cleveland Tool Tech Support

Spoke to Mike at Cleveland Tool today. He was extremely helpful in working with me on my riveting issues and getting the right tools. I ordered their flush rivet set, some reamers (#30 and #40) and some other misc stuff. It bears mentioning in the log because he pointed out the following tips: (1) Set rivet gun pressure to 90psi and adjust the volume (not pressure) to be able to set a rivet with one pull of the trigger in one second. Experiment to find that volume setting on the valve (at 90psi) that sets the rivet properly. (2) Use a flush rivet set with no guard and practice. Work with a partner on those few rivets in the skin that actually have to be bucked. Use a bucking bar of sufficient weight. This is the best way to get smooth skins. The sets with rubber guards have some disadvantages. (3) Don't dimple so hard as to get "smooth moons" around the dimples that indicate too high of a setting pressure. (4) Deburr the relief cuts in rib flanges with a folded piece of scotch brite pad. It's amazing how much time can be spent researching the best way to build......
