Today I bagan the installation of the heater chamber assembly. Photo 1 shows the "Heater Chamber" assembly. It was designed as a "hooded vent assembly" for use in the home clothes dryer market. I bought this one at ACE hardware. Photo 2 shows the flapper valve inside the end of the chamber duct. I'll get a choke cable assembly to connect to this flapper assembly , which will allow me to open & close the heat chamber. Photo 3 shows the flexible aluminum 4" diameter duct. Right now it is collapsed, but by pulling it out it can be extended to 8 feet in length. The chamber assembly cost $3.39, the Flex tubing cost $6.29, and a 100 count box of self threading sheet metal screws cost $5.89. Total cost including tax so far is: $15.57 .................. as you can see in photo one, there is plenty of clearance between the prop and the heater chamber. I'll have to fabricate some straps to hold the chamber to the engine shroud assembly, and apply some hi-temp RTV to seal it off; the hose will connect to the left side [forward] end of the chamber, down thru the hose hole I cut into the floor of the rear turttle deck platform, and into the cockpit area. The right side end of the chamber is where the flapper valve is located. In the open position the air will dump overboard to the rear. I may have to put a sheet of aluminum on that rear area to protect the fabric, I am not certain how hot that air venting out will be. When the flapper valve is in the closed position heat will be directed into the cockpit area from under the rear seat; ala Quad City Challenger video. For now I have cleaned up the snow drifts off the shop floor, completed some more work, and back home to thaw out. Tomorrow is another day.
