Brief Description:  Modify Airframe

Yesterday I finally got tired of being Mr. Pretzel. I cut out the fuselage fabric just aft of the rear seat on the left side to make access for installation of the electrical, fuel & control cables easier. I also installed a platform on the rear deck area that will eventually hold extra tools, oil, etc. I will also mount my Key West regulator, and electrical buss there as well. I relocated the Fawcet electrical fuel pump to the rear area as well since it was impinging on the control cables in the original location, and was very difficult to access for inspections, maintainence, etc. There will eventually be a cover over the whole rear deck area to keep it protected from the elements in flight. I simply do not know why the original builder didn't install this stuff before he covered the airframe? Who ever did the fabric work did a nice job of installing the it. I plan to use a sheet of .020 or .025 2024 T-3 aluminum to fabricate an access door to cover that area where I removed the fabric. I also found a nice strobe light in an Ultralight Flyers magazine for $50.00 so I plan to buy one and mount it on top of the root tube. I will be fabricating & installing the ELT bracket & antenna next .....
