I was at Airventure 2010 (Oshkosh) for several days and came back last night. Had a great time and got a demo flight in the "True Blue" RV-12 (N912VA, the one Mitch Lock built). It flew very well, had great visibility and is more responsive than the C-172s I fly most of the time. The demonstrated stalls were non-events.
Got back to working on the airplane early today. In my 7/15/10 entry, the holes in the Outbd Nose Skin (A-1201C-L) over the aileron counterbalance became much larger than #30, presumably from the heat generated by using a high drill speed. I got a new Outbd Nose Skin but the pre-punched holes did not perfectely match the holes that had been drilled in the aileron counterbalance and the Outbd Nose Ribs. So, I again worked on Steps 1 thru 5 using the unused parts for the right wing. To avoid the same problem I encountered before, I used a #40 dill bit to mark the holes in the counterbalance, removed the skin and drilled the #30 holes directly in the counterbalance. This worked better. I then re-assembled the flaperon and final drilled the holes in the Outbd Nose skin. Also, match-drilled #30 holes in the Outbd Nose Ribs. Deburred and primed a lot of parts (all flaperon nose skins, 12 A-1205 Main Ribs and all of the left flaperon parts except for the two flaperon skins).
