The next major step is to assemble the Tailcone Skins around the 3 Fuselage Frames. Since I live near the Atlantic I feel obligated to prime the inside of the airplane. The parts involved are large and long and priming is now a major chore. It rained the past few days and could not do any priming outside. This afternoon the rain stopped and the wind was mild, so I decided to do some priming. I noticed that some of the edges were sharp and rough so I sanded and deburred them using files and a Scotch-Brite pad. I've tried a few primers (spray can and brush only) and liked Mar-Hyde Self Etching Primer the most. I prep the surface using acetone which does a good job and dries quickly. Before priming I used the edge rolling tool to break the edges (again). I think I got carried away and stretched the skin some. Will find out later how the edges look after riveting. Today, I was able to prime the Bottom Skins (F1282 - L & R) , the Lower Skins (F1281 - L & R) and the J-Stiffeners (F1283A, B & C). I plan to install the skins as soon I can find saw horses that are at least 38 inches tall (per plans) or figure out a way to elevate the ones I have (their max height is 30 inches).
