Brief Description: Worked on the practice tool box and finished it up
I worked on the tool box before work this morning and finished it up. It is by no means a masterpiece, but I did learn a lot........learned that I don't know crap about building an aluminum airplane and need some instruction. Good thing I am going to Oshkosh for the weekend to learn about this process.
It didn't turn out real bad, but there are plenty of mistakes and ugly rivets. I do think I can learn it well enough to make a good airplane, though. After all, Rosie the riveter (aka: housewives from all over the US) was able to make most of the aircraft used in WWII with the same materials, tools, and techniques that I will be using. I don't have anything against housewives, in fact I love the one I live with. My point is that riveted, aluminum construction is a very proven, durable, and safe method that average people with average skills can learn and do an acceptable job. I am pretty average so I think I will do fine.
