This morning I finished match drilling the right elevator skin and stiffeners. This was the first time I used the spring loaded drill stop. I limits how far you can drill in to the material so the chuck won't damage it. It worked well for drilling in to the thin skins.
After finishing the right elevator skin, I pulled the left elevator parts out and got ready to start on them. The left elevator has a trim tab to neutrelize control forces on the elevator. The directions say this is an item that is often messed up so I will need to be careful and take my time. The tab will be built to fill the notch in the trailing edge that is maybe twenty inches wide and five inches deep and seen in the third picture.
