Brief Description: Fluted and straightened ribs for horizontal stab
Gerry R. my A&P (airframe and powerplant mechanic) neighbor stopped by to have a look. He thought things looked good and told me to keep plugging away. I was home from work with an eye infection so no progress on the project.
On Friday, 7/20 I had a vacation day and got a little time in the shop. I worked on the HS-404 and 405 ribs to get them fluted and clamped in to place. The forward end of the rib flange on 404 isn't quite long enough to give the proper edge distance for the matching hole in the skin as shown in the second picture. It should be a minimum of twice the hole diameter from the edge of the hole to the edge of the flange which should be a quarter inch in this case. I clamped everything as tight as possible and the hole is still too close to the edge of the flange. I need to sleep on this one.
