Brief Description:  Drilled out rivets that I messed up last night.

Today was a fun day overall even with some rework that started it off. After going to bed last night I got to thinking about the riveting Colten and I had just finished. I knew I had dimpled the necessary holes at the bottom of the rear spar, but remembered that the spar doubler needed to be countersunk prior to riveting which I hadn't done. We had squeezed 16 very nice -4 rivets that all needed to be drilled out.

It took about an hour this morning drilling them out, deburring, and then countersinking the holes on the doubler surface that matches up with the spar. It actually went pretty well; it is not a good sign when you get good at this task.

My mom was down visiting for the weekend and she helped me rivet the rear spar together and she got pretty good with the cleco pliars. I think she is questioning the money spent on an engineering degree for her youngest son who thinks he can build an airplane with his spare time and money is his garage. Overall, she enjoyed the process and thought it was pretty neat. I wonder what my dad would say about it?
