Brief Description:  Bought a rivet cutter and bucking bar at Oshkosh

Just before leaving for Oshkosh I saw on VAF.net that Jerry Fischer from Winder, OK had a rivet cutter for sale for $10. Guessing that it was an imported tool which cost about $35 new, I figured ten bucks is worth it for a tool I will only need occasionally.

When we got to Oshkosh on Wednesday and got set up, I called Jerry on his cell and arranged to meet him at the Homebuilt Camping Area to pick up the rivet cutter. On the way there we ran into my friend Bill and his brother Phil from Lees Summit, MO. Bill has a -7 that he has let me fly with him along side and it was nice to see him and chat for a few minutes.

Jerry was a really nice guy and the rivet cutter is like brand new, definately worth the money. He also had a custom bucking bar that he made for some of the difficult to reach rivets on the aft side of the fire wall. I have no clue which ones he is talking about at this point, but hopefully it will come in handy when I get to that point. He said I will know it when I get there and for $15, I figured it was worth it.

Jerry is building an RV-7 and isn't that far away from flying it. He is a pretty active contributor on VAF.net and it was good to meet him in person.
