Colten, Tanner, and I went to Oshkosh on Monday, 7/26 and came home on Friday, 7/30. We really had a great time and the boys said they enjoyed it more than any other year. This event wasn't all that different from other years, I think they are just getting older and appreciate all of the various things that are there more.
We went to a "Warbirds in Review" and listened to Bud Anderson the WWII Ace and Jack Rousch talk about P-51 Mustangs. Rousch restored two Mustangs and painted both of them in Bud's colors as he flew them during the war. Bud is into his 80's now and still looks quite a bit younger and is in good shape.
Rousch had an accident later in the day and was lucky to survive. He crashed his business jet while landing on Rwy 36. I had heard that a Cub was cleared to take off as he was on base which caused him to try and slow down to let the Cub get out in front. Unfortunately, he apparently got too slow and stalled causing him to pancake off the side of the runway. He had some injuries, but it could have been much worse.
There was a lot of rain the week prior and the camping areas had some standing water. Overall, it was a great week and I'll have more pictures in the next entry.
