Brief Description: Seat Belt Shoulder Attachment and Canopy Latch
The seat belt sholder attachment seems very weak as described on the plans. The one fitted to the fuselage as I recieved it was strngthend but the rivets used where A4 not A5 as per the plans. To fix this up and provide even more re-enforement I had to de-rivet the skin and disassemble the current attachement. A trial fit of the seat belt also indicated that the attachment point needed to be further aft given the length o the belt supplied.
The revised attachment point fixes to the fuselage further after and utilises a section of 25 thou chrome moly sheet to assist retaining the attachment bolt. No calculations but it seems like the bolt will be retained beter in a crash situation. The belt angle over the shoulder has been raised a little with the afte move which is also a good thing according to the crash survivability studies I have read.
Progressed the secondary latch roll bar attachment also.
