Well... she's a bit of a pudgy lady ;-) Her empty weight came in at 823. I felt bad about it until I talked to a few folks. The listed factory weight of around 650 is apparently pretty hard to achieve. I've got the larger wheels, full IFR panel, long range fuel tanks, thick amatuer paint job, full carpet kit on the extended baggage compartment, thicker windshield, dual brakes, and the heavier engine. The Corvair should be about 60 pounds of that extra weight. Oh well, the extra 30 horsepower will have to make up for it.
I'm also too nose heavy. I put the battery mid way in the tail section, now I'm definitely going to have to move the battery as far aft as I can and add another 15 pounds. Rather than just adding dead weight, I think I'll add a second battery to at least get some benefit from the extra weight.
