Brief Description:  Oil line and pre-oil

I've learned another life skill!! I bought bulk oil line hose that is guarded with a stainless steel mesh, and the AN-6 Earl's Hose fitting from Summit Racing and learned to cut, install, and seal the ends. Not too bad really.

Secondly, I bought the custom pre-oil tool from WW. It fits in the distributor hole and engages the oil pump while keeping the shaft perfectly straight. A drill was attached, a couple of zip ties to make the drill hands free and hold the trigger at a designated speed, and viola! This allows me to completely fill all the lines, oil cooler, and filter... in fact, I put four quarts in, marked it full on my brand new custom, personally installed dipstick and ran the drill for about 5 minutes. I had to add 1.5 quarts to bring it back up to the full mark after the entire system was filled and pressurized. The big bonus is it runs the system at operating pressure so it also leaks checks everything, including my own hoses. I passed! Well... I did forget to tighten the oil temp sender so it dripped once or twice until I tightened it on down. The drill is run (about 15 minutes) until oil is dripping of each rocker arm, verifying that the entire engine and systems are completely circulation oil. Now when I fire her up she won't be dry at all. Now to install the valve covers for real, gaskets and all. Then on to the distributor and carb !
