Brief Description: Inpected QB Fuse side skins and adjusted baggage d
Inpected QB Fuse side skins and adjusted baggage door seal Inspection of step 29-6, I found that the door seal angles F-10102A and F-10102B installed on the QB fuselage, are not fabricated properly. First, as reported in the archives, F-10102A is 1/16" too long and will not butt up against tailcone longeron when joining the tailcone and forward fuselage. Second, the plans call for both seals to be trimmed to 3/8" below longeron. Instead, the A section has been trimmed from 3/4" to 1/2". I assume this is unacceptable.
Another builder commented that it didn't matter but that both issues could be fixed in situ. However, I did not want knick the longerron trying cut 1/16" off the F10102A and trimming both seals would be challenging. So I drilled out the rivets, trimmed and cut both seals and re-assembled. Definitely the way to go.
Found step 29-12 that F-1042E was pop riveted in. Further inspection indicated that platenuts for installation for F-1042G wire covers in step 35-7 were not in place. And that one platenut per side needed to be installed before final riveting.
