Brief Description:  Exhaust fan setup for paint booth

Cut a hole in steel wall, built frame to hold 2 really nice aluminum shutters. The whole idea is that the blower box is temporary. The shutters are needed to keep critters out. Got the shutters at the local junk yard.

Speaking of critters, I bought 2 squirrel cage blowers years ago on e-Bay. Built a ply box to hold them and hung them outside of these shutters. The box is just a press fit into the shutter frame with a horizontal support to hold it level.

The idea is that this whole thing is removeable for storage inside. But it will probably be out there for 6 months while I paint the plane so it needs to be weather proofed. The messy looking power cords were routed out the bottom, under the roof and plugged into a waterproof outlet. Water should run down cord and drip off without entering box.

Exhaust filters are fitted on inside. In the background you can see my AC unit and Cantenna for internet access.

Turns out one fan blows 3X the other which works out well. When mixing or cleaning, I turn the weak one on. When spraying, both go on. The babe stays safely busy at her stained glass bench.

Turns out, this is all working very well at this point. Safe paint booth design says special (expensive) fans with protected motors need to be used. With the low-VOC coatings and HVLP spray equipment, there are a lot fewer clouds of volatile fumes involved. As long as I have this stuff on before releasing any volatile substances in the booth, I'm confident things won't go Boom.
