I decided to add gussets to the spline and spline bracing. There was some question how the 3/4 x 1" spline should be layed in . The plans are not conclusive and the builders manual says nothing.
I decided to lay the 1 " side of the spline on top for the ply butt joint . The whole decision was about how the angles or miters cut in the bracing would intercect the spline . If the spline would have been placed with the 1 " dimenson vertical it would have given more surface area for the glue joint . However after the miters are cut in the 1 1/2 " inch width of the braces 1/4 inch isnt going to make much differance. Gussets were added to reinforce the area and cover the unsightly gapping opening of the miters .
