while the general install of the lower wing tip skins went well there were still some ripples in the skin that had to be handled with filler . I decided to do this now rather than close the outer panels . There was at least one spot on each lower tip skin that appeared "high" and I questioned the possibility that I might have to rework some skin to remove these High ripples , much easier to rework at this stage.
I began by appling west epoxy over the entire tips. This would be my visual warning for sanding - if the west coat were broken it would be a clear indication to STOP sanding thus preserving the skin thickness. Prior to adding filler ( west with 407 micro ) a light wet coat of west ( no filler ) was applied to insure good bonding. Because of the complex shape of the tip I used a spline to level the micro . After sanding to form a thin layer of light weight filler was used applied for final shaping then sealed with a coat of west .
