decided to make a tie down jack point for the tail. Added maple block between longerons and tail post attach point. Covered maple with 3/32 plu doubler . made a 4130 1/8 plate and welded a 3/8 threaded coupler in plate so that it would sit just under the surface of the lower skin ply. During tie down the eye will be threaded into the coupler and remover for flight. For jacking operations I will machine an inverted cone that will rest on and over the jack point .
The plate is attached with 3 AN4 bolts and lock nuts . The blot heads wear recessed into the maple block with a 3/4 inch spade bit - then the recess was filled with t-88 and micro flush with the maples to prevent the bolts from turning.
