Brief Description: Drilling Skid End Plugs For Rivets
The rough end plugs for the skids were placed in the metal lathe and smoothed out with emery paper. A jig was printed on the 3D printer for drilling the rivet holes for the end plugs. A rectangular block was printed which had 1/8" holes placed exactly in the midline of the skids and halfway from the end of the end plug part that fits inside the skid. The jig was squared to the flat base then clamped ensuring that both holes were at the same height above the base. I know, a little overkill for a couple rivets, but I really like making things perfect.
