To ensure that all holes were drilled exactly in the vertical center of the landing skid, when attaching the landing strut, a jig was printed on my 3D printer that allowed perfect alignment of the bolts. Bronze inserts were placed in the plastic jig to keep the drill bit from wandering. The welds on the bottom curved bracket had to be ground slightly to allow the bracket to sit perfectly flat. The ends of the skids were filed so that the end plugs would fit flush all around the circumference of the skid.
What took B.J. 30 minutes on his instructional videos took me 5 hours. It was hard to drill that first hole without double, triple and quadruple checking all measurements and making sure everything was lined up before drilling.
