Brief Description:  Oshkosh 2022

Well, this is now my 3rd trip flying into Oshkosh in a plane that I built (RV-12). The flight in is always interesting and this year was no different. The weather was the most challenging and the traffic was fairly easy. I tried to find a good weather window from Cincinnati to OSH, but ended up leaving a little early to avoid something coming into Cincy. I ended up heading west for quite a while before I could turn North and skirted around the storms. My arrival into OSH coincided with one of the mass arrivals, so rwy 36 was tied up and the rest of us came in single file down the tracks to land on 27. It was pretty warm by the time I arrived, but the air was real smooth the whole way. I also managed to survive the Sat night storm…or my plane survived. The tent got a little wet with the sideway rain, but luckily, Sunday was nice and sunny to dry everything out. The rest of the week was picture perfect weather…sunny, low humidity, low temps, and a nice cool breeze. This was Vans 50 year celebration, so the was one of each model on Boeing Plaza. I found some nice RV-10 that I grabbed some pictures. I also attended the RV-10 gathering on Sunday night and got to exchange questions and ideas with some fellow builders. All-in-all a fantastic week.
