Brief Description:  EAA SportAir Workshop – Electrical Systems, Wiring

This past weekend I completed the EAA SportAir Workshop for electrical Systems in Lakeland Florida. A trip my wife was happy to join me, so we turned it into a vacation/training/exploring trip. We enjoyed the warm sunny weather of Florida in February as compared to Ohio. In addition to getting more familiar electrical systems and wiring, we also took the opportunity to explore the area for potential retirement homes for us and the plane(s). Of course, one stop had to include a visit to Spruce Creek in Port Orange, FL. It is an amazing community full of aviation enthusiasts. Unfortunately, a little outside our affordability range for a hanger home and also nothing available. We did enjoy a nice lunch at the Downwind Café. During the class, which was excellent, I got the opportunity to build a basic layout, switch, fuse, dimmer and a couple light bulbs. I thought it was really cool, but decided not to try and get that through security at the airport…probably a wise choice. It was a great week and it’s always fun to learn new things and visit airports…everyone was so friendly.
