Brief Description:  Horizontal Stabilator Assembly (8-7)

Back to the HS. Now that the ribs are all deburred and prepped, I pulled down the skins, deburred the edges and pulled the protective film off the inner skins. This took a while, but it was nice to see some more progress. I really start to take some appreciation for the size of this plane as I start to set the skins in the cradles. I had to arrange the tables long ways together and I now realize that the tail section will not fit in the single car bay side of the garage. When it come s time to put everything together, I’ll have to take over the other side, but that is a ways off. I first set the nose ribs into the skins, but it is a real stretch to get both sides clecoed in place. I was a little nervous that the clecos would dent the skin, but it so far it seems to have worked out. Once the spar goes in then it pulls the skins together enough that the nose ribs fit better. I also realized that I don’t have nearly enough silver clecos…time to order some more.
