Brief Description:  Fuel Pump to Firewall Fuel Line

The Airflow Performance fuel injection uses a high pressure fuel pump mounted just forward of the fuel selector and mounted to the center floor. The fuel line from the pump to the firewall is 3/8" soft aluminum tubing. I already have the elbow mounted to the firewall and the fuel pump mounted. I used a length of welding rod to mock up the line i would need. The line has a 90 degree bend on each end and a 3/4" offset to line up with the firewall elbow. Using my tubing bender,I first made the 3/4" offset about 10" from the firewall. Next, I made the 90 degree bend up at the fuel pump. I placed the line next to the fuel pump fitting and marked the length. I cut the line, deburred and slipped on the AN818-6D nut and the AN819-6D sleeve. I made the flare on the tube end. I used my welding rod mockup to make the firewall end 90 degree bend and placed the tube into postion and marked the height to cut at the firewall elbow. I slipped a length of air conditioning insulation over the fuel line before I flared the end. I deburred, slipped on the nut and sleeve and flared the end. I checked the fit and temporarily installed the line. I also fabricated the short fuel return line from the pump back to a tee fitting below the fuel selector. This line has a 180 bend and a nut and sleeve at each end. Welding rod mockup helped me with the fabrication.
