So I spent Saturday and part of Sunday trying to figure out how to drill the tail spring mount. First try by hand was a disaster. Second on the drill press also didn't work, even using the v-shaped fixture to hold it.
I was able eventually to get it to work by clamping it in a drill press vice, using the a level to determine the top center of the tube, using angle to create the lines, using paper to mark the opposite side, then drilling #30 holes, testing those, and then working up to a 15/64 hole.
I learned a ton about drilling tubing which should come in handy when it's time to make the control rods.
