Brief Description:  Sealing tank stiffeners

First session sealing the tank stiffeners into place. I used a technique I read about on Bob Ellis' builder's page which worked very well.

Mixed a batch of sealant. It was easy to measure but a royal pain to mix. Broke a couple plastic spoons and ended up using a wooden dowel to mix it.

On the first stiffener I tried to use a popsicle stick to spread the sealant. Pretty much a disaster. So I went and got a large (200ml) syringe my son had been given for his wisdom teeth. I would load the syring with about an inch of sealant. That was enough to do two stiffeners. I would put a bead along a line just outside the rivets. I would do around both stiffeners. Then I would throw out the gloves and put the stiffeners into place with by bare sealant free hands. Then I would tilt the skin up and fully cleco the stiffener into place. The sealant would squeeze out a little bead around the side. I was going to smooth one with a popsicle stick but didn't really need to.

Then clean the syringe, put on new gloves, reload the syringe and repeat.

Worked out great although given how hot it is, the working time for the sealant here is only about an hour and a half.
