Brief Description:  Cowling screws and oil cooler mold

After receiving my order of rivet nuts and screws from Aircraft Spruce I finished installing all the screws in the cowling. Removed the 3/4" plywood donut on the front of the cowling and all stayed in place. I measured up from the floor to the lip where the top cowling mates to the bottom cowling and found the maeasurment fromt left to right to be with in 1mm. I want to have the oil cooler inlet go directly to the oil coolers so I decided it was time to try my hand at fiber glass work. I placed a piece of aluminum on the back side of the oil cooler inlet and traced out the opening to create a pattern. After cutting out the pattern I transferred it to a 2X4 and cut it out at a slight angle and then transferred the back of the 2x4 to a 3/4" piece of plywood and cut it out and repeating it one more time cut out a second piece of 3/4" ply to make the inlet. I glued all three pieces together and after they dried I sanded them smooth. I cut out a piece of 3/4" ply to mach the oil cooler flanges and side and screw this to the inlet mold. I mixed up some epoxy and sealed the mold.
