Brief Description:  More work on controls

The rudder cables are done and work great. I sweated doing them as there are not any instructions on them so I locked the rudder in place on center by clamping it and locked the rudder peddles in place with clamps keeping them at about 90 deg from bottom of cabin. Then using the two shackles that came with the kit I installed them on the rudder peddles using a thimble and NICO clamp. I used a NICO press that I purchased through Aircraft Spruce and it worked great. Then I used the two shackles that I purchased from wicks (12.00 dollars each) The drawings show using the shackles on both ends but for some reason Bushcaddy does not include all four in the kit. The inventory only shows two. After the rudder cables I started work on the control rod and centered the elevators in locked in place by supporting them with blocks. I was really wondering how the control rod would work as there was quite a height different when first put in place. Make sure you use the longer of the two rods in the back. The Part PJ-272 that runs across frame 4 to support the control rod will be at a different height then what is in the drawings. Mine ended up being right on top of the rudder cable guides at 84mm and the drawing show it to be 184mm. Even though the control rods were of a different height after holding the aft control rod against the forward one to mark for the cut I could see they would work easily. I shortened the forward control rod and slide the steel connector in place and drilled for 1/8 rivets. I used 410 rivets as the long rivets do not go all the way through to the other side. Then using two AN3-4A bolts and nuts I bolted the two PJ-278 halves together to the control rod and used one rivet to lock to control rod. Installed trim control wheel under seats.
