Brief Description:  Set the wings to the fuselage

General instructions for setup and installing wings on the Bushcaddy’s.

First: get the plane in flying attitude and level it side to side. A level across cabin door bottoms is best. If doors are removed it will greatly simplify things. You will be checking this constantly.

Second: have ready the holding supports for wing ends prior to starting any thing. And a couple of aluminum angles or equivalent to go across cabin at top of door openings. You can clamp these to the angle that forms door top and then rest wings temporarily on top of these. I used a couple sets of scaffolding to do mine that had adjustable legs.

Next: drill the wing mounting brackets to the dims in the plans. Do not try to drill the wing attach parts on the cabin. These will be drilled through the holes you have made in wing root brackets that are on the wings. You will have to measure down from the cabin top to the lay out mark on the wing attachments on the cabin then transfer these measurements to the wing roots.

Put one wing in its position. Make sure it is straight across from top of wing to top of cabin. Check for the dimension from wing to cabin. And make sure both of these remain constant. Drill the front mount hole through the cabin part at this point on front mount only. Slip a bolt in hole ASAP. Now clamp a clamp over the rear mount to temporary hold it near its position. Make sure that wing can’t do anything stupid, like fall. Then install second wing in same position. Now you have two wings and only the front bolts are in place. Now run a string from wing tip to wing tip at front edge. This is your reference for the wings being straight. Loosen your rear clamp on each side and making sure string is true across front of both wings. Check that wing and cabin is straight across top. A short wood piece is what I used to jump gap. Now drill the rear bolt through your holes in wing root brackets and slip a bolt in that hole. Go to other side and repeat.
