Brief Description:  Elevator deflection set

After talking with Mike at Bushcaddy I have a good handle on the setting of the elevator travel. On the drawings it showed what looked like 130 mm down and 160 mm up but I came to find out that this was really 13 deg down and 16 deg up travel. Now this makes better since. I set up a board gauge that I marked the center of the elevator at then measured down the 13 deg and marked it and up from center 16 deg. The board is attached to a stand and set behind the elevator with the marks facing forward. Then I could move the elevator through its travel and set the limits. The down elevator is limited by the stick touching the top of the control tube and you adjust the eye bolts to set this. (The best way to have set this is when I was cutting the control rod to size by setting the elevator at the 13 deg down and pushing the stick full forward and clamping it in place. Then cutting the control rod and joining the two peaces.)For setting the up elevator travel I moved the stick back until the tip of the elevator came up to the 16 deg mark. Then I marked the control rod at the end of the control tube next to the UHMW bushing. Then taking some UHMW stock I made a clamp stop for the control rod and clamped it in place at the mark. This stops the elvator up at 16 deg by bottoming out against the control tube.
