Well, Joy was out of town this weekend and I thought I would surprise her by converting our upstairs airplane parts warehouse back into a master bedroom. For way too long we've had a polished horizontal stabilizer/elevator on top of the entertainment center in our bedroom. The mirrored effect so near the ceiling was...well, not our normal decor. I removed the rear top skin on the fuselage, temporarily put the stab in place, made a tracing of the outline needed to cut the notches in the top skin and made the cuts. Once that was back in place, I replaced the stabilizer, leveled it and drilled for the mounting bolts. It was exciting to see this part of the project in the place for which it has been intended since early in the project. The stabilizer/elevator combo is the 2nd thing you tackle, right after the rudder. This has been waiting for its rightful home since November 11, 2006. It get to join the fuselage, and I get my bedroom back. Two good things in one day.
