Brief Description:  Canopy completed!

I couldn't be happier. With the exception of minor tweaks here and there -- none that are structural or critical -- I've completed fabricating and installing my own Zenith CH 650 canopy from scratch. And to think, it only took 141.25 hours to complete. That's nearly 9% of the project time so far. Yikes! The only purchased part was the canopy bubble from ZAC/Todd's Canopies. Once I recover from the building process, I'll try to document some of the things I learned. As usual, most of the things we learn are more through error than trial. Maybe I can steer others away from the potholes. Additionally, I'll try to provide part numbers for some of the weatherstripping and adhesives that I used. For those following my progress, thanks for your patience and for not giving up on me. This was by far the most challenging part of the project, without exception. Solid riveting the main and center spars was the most frustrating, but this had so many curves and loosey-goosey parts that had to be brought into alignment so everything would work smoothly, fit nicely and seal out the elements. Once my rear oil case assembly arrives, I'll be ready to hang the engine and begin firewall forward work. Soon I won't have to sit in the cockpit and make engine noises that sound more like a go-cart than an airplane. Stay tuned.
