With the new 650 design, the upper fuselage longeron doublers are wider, to accomodate the new latch hook mechanism and to provide more room for routing wires to and from the instrument panel. Once again, I found myself in uncharted territory because the photo assembly guide could only be counted on for general directions, not specifics as to widths or no rivet zones (that might only apply to the 601XL. I spent a fair amount of time studying the plans before cutting my first piece of aluminum. I located and rough cut both sides, then finished the trimming and drilling on the right side only. Another hour should complete the left side. These parts came out really well, and it gives the cockpit area a more finished look (not to mention more strength and a good mating surface for the canopy rail system). Upward and onward!
