Brief Description:  1 - Confirmed Weight & Balance arms from 1,790mm

When I wrote the last entry, I was going off of information from other builders and their W & B spreadsheets. Most were saying to drop a plumb line off the front of the wing at nose rib #4 which is at station 1,490mm from the wing root. When I double-checked the Zenith website (and later called Roger at the factory), they specify that the measurement be from station 1,790mm. So today I went back and remeasured. Here are the numbers I got: nose gear @ -509mm, right main @ 638mm and left main @ 635mm. Using my preliminary weights for those three locations totaling 819.5 lbs., my empty CG is 288.5mm aft of the datum. My most aft CG using the standard 170 lb. pilot, 40 lbs. of baggage and minimal fuel (6 gallons) is 401.3. My most forward CG with 170 lb. pilot, no baggage and full tanks is 337.9. The allowable CG range is 270mm to 455mm so I'm good in all configurations. When I put in real numbers for me and the 170 passenger, my aft CG shifts to 452.1 which is still in the range. If I have another passenger my same size with 40 lbs. of baggage, the lowest I can allow the fuel to go is 10 gallons which puts me right at 455mm aft of datum. Cut the baggage in half, and fuel can go down to 6 gallons and still be in CG range. I'm quite pleased with the CG range I'm seeing. Now it is just subject to one final weighing of the aircraft.
