Because my first attempt at rigging the elevator did not have enough upward deflection, I decided it would be best to install the saddle and upper deflection stops before rigging again. That way I will have a fixed point from which to work. I used heavy gauge L angle here, and in order to have decent margins in the fiberglass, it turned out that I had to tweak the bottom edge downward to obtain the 30 to 32 degree deflection (starting at neutral). I nailed it at 31.8 degrees. During this process, I should mention that I disconnected the rigging so I could move the elevator freely. The next job in this area is the lower deflection stop.
