Brief Description:  Various jobs including aileron control stop

I charged the battery while doing odd jobs on the wings (trimming the vent tubes, reapplying cosmetic covers over the vent tube and drain on the left wing, reattaching the pitot). I also checked the deflection on both the ailerons and elevator. The ailerons have plenty of available travel, but the elevator is too constrained in the up elevator position. It should allow 32 to 34 degrees of travel from neutral and at best I get 28 degrees. That means I'll have to get more cable and make new cables for the elevator. Thinking I might someday get an instrument rating, I installed a heated pitot which I checked today. Unfortunately it worked too well and the module didn't turn it off. I was in another part of the hangar when I smelled a burning odor only to realize that my pitot was slowly melting and cracking. My plan now is to abandon that course since I won't be flying by instruments and go with a standard pitot. Less weight and one less thing to go wrong. The last big job of the day was installing the aileron control stop and reinforcing L angles called for in the modification plans 6-ZU-4. Lots ot tight quarters work, but I almost finished the job before having to knock off for the night.
