Brief Description:  Fabricated air filter housing

When I woke up this morning, I was ready to tackle the air filter housing. The only problem was that I didn't have a clue how I was going to do it. The picture provided in the installation manual is of a fiberglass housing, and I gave away my fiberglass supplies when I decided against making a Cozy. I put out a request for help on the Corvaircraft email list, and within minutes I had CAD drawings and pictures from Jay Bannister that were just what I had hoped for. Jay has been a wonderful resource for this kind of thing, because he built the same model of plane with the same engine AND he was always careful to document the parts he made or how he installed accessories. Thanks, Jay! I spent several hours (not counted in today's total) sourcing parts for the next few jobs I'll do, then I got to work. A mere 5 hours later I had completed this part. I may not be fast, but I'm reasonably accurate. Just don't ask for the real cost of this part, including my labor. In the 3rd picture below you can see the proximty of the duct flange on tonight's part and the corresponding duct flange on the bottom of the carburetor. Just a few inches of SCAT hose and we'll be in business. Oh, by the way, I will be sealing up the corners and seams with Ultra Grey Silicone RTV to produce a tight air seal for the air filtration system.
