Brief Description: Installed engine stand-offs & alternator belt
My first task was installing the stand-offs that Steve Glover made this morning. Perfect fit all around. Next I decided it was a good opportunity to secure the oil line feeding the Weseman 5th bearing up front. I put an Adel clamp on the line as it crosses the top cover and another that came off the bottom bolt, backside of the alternator dog bone. The middle picture shows it before the alternator was reinstalled. To protect against chafing and to provide more positive clamping force by the clamps, I wrapped the braided hose in Rescue Tape. This is amazing stuff that is resistant to temperatures over 500 degrees. With the clamps in place, my braided hose passes behind the starter flywheel with clearance of 3mm at the closest point. In order to get it to touch, I had to pull on the line and then it would still return to a place where clearance was maintained. Obviously this will be sometthing I inspect, especially for the first 40 hours of my Phase 1. BTW, the alternator belt is Gates PoweRated Belt 6728 (3/8" x 28")
