Brief Description:  Horizontal Stabilizer

I spent about a third of the time today trying to figure out what happened with the alignment of the ribs yesterday. I thought that maybe I read the prints wrong, or maybe the prints were even wrong.

At one point I was sure I had made some measurements incorrectly, so I brought the horizontal stabilizer frame into my small workshop. I anticipated having to remake the forward clips again. I didn't was to do that again, but since I've already remade them a few times, and now have a good press, it isn't too difficult.

To my surprise my measurements were accurate to 1/64". So I was really stumped for a little while. So I decided to see if the right side of the horizontal stabilizer had the same issue. In the process of doing this the answer came to me. I hadn't made sure the ribs were square with the rear spar! This meant that the furthest point from the rear spar would be skewed the most.

I proceeded to square the frame, and skinned the top right side of the horizontal stabilizer. It came out great! Now the right side should keep the both sides square.

Unfortunately there were some casualties. I have to remake two pieces, and buy two pieces. The good news is that I think I already have to material I need to remake the pieces, and the other two are small ribs that I'll re-order from Sonex.
