Brief Description:  Vertical Stabilizer

I made quite a bit of progress lately. This update will include the work I've done over the last few days.

You can see in the first image that the Forward and Rear spars are assembled, and the ribs are clecoed in place.

I actually re-made two of the ribs because one of them was about 1/16 inch to long, and the other about 1/16 inch too short. I might have been able to "shoehorn" these in, but I had extra material, and a new process of making them. This included using my new 24 inch ruler. This allowed me to make the measurements accuracte to 1/64 th of an inch. That precision isn't required, but it really doesn't take much longer to make a precise measurement, than a rounded 1/16 measurement. Actually I found it more convienent because I didn't have to calculate how many 16ths, or 32nds of an inch 45/64ths was, or perform the calculation multiple times to make sure I did it correctly.

I still have to up size many of the pilot holes for the rivets, and bolts. I started to to the bolts, but the first hole I make with my 3/16th unibit drill wasn't snug enough. I'm considering buying a replacement "oversized" bolt for the one I already drilled. It's probably not necessary, but why not make it as strong as possible. In the mean time, I've ordered a 3/16th hand operated reamer. A reamer is supposed to create a hole that it as near perfect as possible. So I'm waiting to finish the vertical stabilizer main spar until I get the reamer. Then hopefully then "AN" bolts will require fingertip insertion pressure instead just dropping in.
